About Kwetsani Camp | Jao Reserve | Okavango Delta, Botswana
Perched high among the palms, mangosteen and fig trees of a remote island in Botswana’s Jao Reserve, Kwetsani Camp offers an intimate and beautifully immersive Okavango Delta safari. With just five elevated treehouse-style tented suites, the camp combines understated luxury with a spectacular sense of place, overlooking expansive floodplains where wildlife gathers as the seasonal waters transform the landscape.
Designed to make the most of its elevated position, each spacious suite features canvas, wood and glass, with a private deck offering sweeping views across the Delta. The camp’s raised main area includes a relaxed lounge and dining space, expansive viewing deck and plunge pool – the perfect places to unwind between safari activities while watching the ever-changing wilderness below.
Kwetsani’s position within the private Jao Reserve allows guests to experience both the water and land-based sides of the Okavango. Depending on seasonal water levels, days can be spent gliding silently through the waterways by Mokoro, exploring by boat, walking through palm-fringed islands or heading out on day and night game drives. Guests also have access to Hunda Island, renowned for its excellent game viewing, adding further variety to the safari experience.
The surrounding floodplains are particularly rewarding for wildlife and bird enthusiasts, with red lechwe, elephant, hippo, lion, leopard, wild dog, buffalo and a wealth of birdlife found throughout the region. The ever-changing relationship between water, islands and wildlife makes every stay at Kwetsani unique.
Small, secluded and wonderfully connected to its surroundings, Kwetsani Camp is an ideal choice for travellers seeking a slower, more intimate style of Botswana safari – where exceptional wildlife encounters are complemented by the tranquillity and beauty of the Okavango Delta.
Nestled in the heart of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, the Jao Reserve is a pristine wilderness area renowned for its spectacular waterways, lush islands and exceptional wildlife. The private reserve offers a wonderfully diverse safari experience, where guests can explore by mokoro and boat as well as on game drives and guided walks.
