Victoria Falls Experience

A seamless journey that brings you to one of the extraordinary natural wonders on Earth, at the right time, in the right way.

Feel The Power of Victoria Falls

There are few places in the world that make an impression quite like this. Known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, “The Smoke That Thunders”, Victoria Falls is a sensory experience. The distant roar. The rising mist. The sheer scale of water plunging into the gorge below. It’s not just a landmark. It’s a moment you won’t forget.

A Destination Defined by Contrast

Set on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia, Victoria Falls offers two distinct ways to experience the same iconic wonder. From rainforest walkways with uninterrupted views, to standing at the very edge of the Falls, to drifting along the Zambezi at sunset, this is where raw nature meets refined travel.

At Africa Tailormade, we shape your itinerary around how you want to experience it.

Victoria Falls FAQ's

When is the best time to visit Victoria Falls?

Victoria Falls is spectacular throughout the year, but the experience changes with the water levels. February to May usually brings the greatest volume of water and the most dramatic views, although the spray can obscure parts of the Falls. From June to August, visibility improves while the Falls remain impressive. September to December offers lower water levels, clearer views of the rock formations and the best conditions for activities such as white water rafting and visiting Devil’s Pool.

The Zimbabwean side offers the widest range of viewpoints and typically provides excellent views throughout the year. The Zambian side allows you to get closer to the Falls and provides seasonal access to Livingstone Island and Devil’s Pool. If time allows, we recommend visiting both sides, as each offers a completely different perspective. Africa Tailormade can arrange accommodation, transfers and border crossings as part of your itinerary.

Two to three nights is ideal for most travellers. This allows enough time for a guided tour of Victoria Falls, a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River and one or two additional activities. Popular options include scenic helicopter flights, white water rafting, cultural experiences, wildlife encounters and a visit to Livingstone Island when conditions permit.

Visa requirements depend on your nationality and whether you are visiting Zimbabwe, Zambia or both countries. Many travellers can obtain a visa on arrival, while eligible visitors may be able to use a KAZA UniVisa for travel between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Entry requirements can change, so Africa Tailormade will advise you on the latest visa information for your specific itinerary before you travel.

Yes, Victoria Falls is easily combined with safari destinations in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia. Popular combinations include Hwange National Park, Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta. Regional flights and private transfers make it possible to experience Victoria Falls and a wildlife safari within one seamless Southern African journey.
