Premier Rwandan Adventure

Day 1 

• On arrival at Kigali Airport, you will be met by a representative from Akahera Aviaition who will accompany you to the Arrivals hall for an introduction to your private driver/guide who will stay with your throughout your time in Rwanda. Your drive to Singita Kwitonda Lodge will be approximately 3-hours.
• After check-in at Singita Kwitonda, you will spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2

Today is the day! Gorilla Trekking in the Volcanoes National Park

Typical Day on a Gorilla Trek

• Early wake up and breakfast at the lodge
• At 06h30, you will be transferred to the Volcanoes National Park HQ
• At 07h00 there is registration & free coffee!
• You will be put into groups, Each group’s Lead Guide briefs the trekkers of the procedures as well as the “do’s and don’ts” whilst in the presence of gorillas.
• After the briefing, you will return to your respective vehicles for the drive to the starting point. Porters may be hired for the trek to carry your backpack and gear - Cost, USD 10 per person/per day. We strongly advise that you utilise this service. The guides stop frequently to allow trekkers a chance to rest and take photos along the way. After the trek, you will rejoin your driver / guide for the transfer back to your lodge in time for lunch.

Suggested Clothing and Gear for Gorilla Trekking:

• For trekking one should have: boots with good grip, gators, gloves, a waterproof jacket, thick socks, thick pants to protect against stinging nettles, long-sleeved tops.
• For the lodge one should have: pants, long sleeve tops, t-shirts, a warm layer for the evenings, closed shoes, a swimming costume.
• Comfortable walking shoes/track shoes/hiking boots for walks.

Clothing and Gear Available for Use from the Lodge:

• Men's and ladies waterproof jackets with a removable inner fleece lining and hood
• Men's and ladies water-resistant hiking pants
• Hiking chaps in two sizes (gators)
• Hiking poles with extendable options and grips
• Gloves for use during hiking to protect hands from thorns and mud
• Trekking lunch boxes which will hold freshly made lunches chosen by the guests – all eco-friendly packaging
• Singita water bottle

Day 3

Your days will be spent at leisure exploring the Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

Day 4

• This morning after breakfast, you will be collected by your guide and driven to Cleo Lake Kivu Hotel (4-hours).
• After check-in, you can spend the day at leisure or take a boat cruise on the beautiful Lake Kivu.

Day 5

• This morning after breakfast, your driver/guide will take you to the One&Only Nyungwe House (2.5 hours)
• After check-in, you will spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 6

Your days will be spent at leisure exploring the Nyungwe National Park, Rwanda. We would highly recommend the Chimpanzee Trek & Canopy Walk!

The Nyungwe Canopy suspension bridge walkway is 160 meters long and 170 meters high. You may reach the canopy walk as part of a trip along the Igishigishigi route with a guide. You can also access it via the Imbaraga and Umuyove hiking trails. The bridge is between the massive trees, providing a breath of fresh air. You also have a spectacular overhead view of the trees, monkeys, and various bird species.

Surrounding One&Only Nyungwe House is the protected Nyungwe National Park which is home to chimpanzees and monkeys, offering an unforgettable opportunity to see these incredible animals up-close.

At the break of dawn, your expert guide will lead you into the heart of the jungle, on the trail of chimpanzees. A rustle of leaves, and then, through the branches, you’ll spot a chimpanzee gazing down from the fig trees. Or perhaps you’ll see a troop of tree-dwelling chimps catapulting off through the canopy. Every trek is different, and the jungle’s charismatic chimpanzees are full of surprises.

Day 7

• This morning after breakfast, you will be collected by your Guide & transferred by vehicle to Kamembe International Airport (1-hour drive).
• A representative from Akagera Aviation will be there to assist you with check-in for your onward flight.
