After being off-limits to tourists for two decades for big-cat research, this section of the eastern Serengeti is home to a staggering density of predators. The recently upgraded Namiri Plains has been designed to maximise views of the water source in front of the camp. Its 11 elegant and spacious tents — each with its own veranda and private outdoor bath — provide the perfect setting from which to watch the wildlife that congregates here to drink. When the Great Migration move into the area, the plains explode into action, with massive herds heading south to calve, followed by the big cats that prey on them.

The nearest other camps are over an hour’s drive away so you can experience the vast plains all to yourself. When not out in the bush spotting lion and other big cats or watching huge wildebeest herds, while away an afternoon around the pool or schedule a massage at the spa. Feed your mind in the library and information centre, or simply chill out and soak up the views from your own private deck.

While exploring the grasslands close to Namiri Plains, you might be fortunate enough to come face to face with one of our most beautiful and unique wildcats – Manja, the melanistic serval. He is quite the celebrity in the Serengeti and has been featured globally by the likes of BBC Earth and The Discovery Channel.

Day 1

On arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be met & transferred on a light aircraft flight to Seronera Airstrip
On arrival at Seronera Airstrip, you will be met by your Guide and transferred to Namiri Plains (2-hour drive)
After check-in, you will spend the rest of the day at leisure

Day 2

Typical Day on Safari (timings may slightly vary)

5:00 am - Wake up call
5:30 am - Tea, coffee, biscuits and your morning activities begin
During your morning Safari you stop in the bush for coffee, tea, hot chocolate & snacks
8:30 am - Return from your Safari for breakfast
After breakfast your day will be at leisure for relaxing, swimming, bush walks, or other activities of a personal preference
1:00 pm - Lunch is served
4:00 pm - Afternoon Tea
4:30 pm - You will depart on your afternoon activity
During your afternoon Safari you will stop in the bush for Sundowner drinks
7:30 pm - Return from your Safari, dinner is served
Enjoy a nightcap & chat around the fire before retiring

On arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will connect with your onwards flight
