Kibale Forest National Park

Kibale National Forest boasts one of the highest levels of primate diversity and density in Africa. As one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee trekking, this forest is inhabited by a significant population of endangered chimpanzees, along with the endangered red colobus monkey and the vulnerable L'Hoest's monkey. In total, Kibale National Park is home to 13 distinct species of primates living within its 795km2 land cover with the most beautiful and diversified tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

The park serves as a refuge for colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, and a variety of avian species, including hornbills and turacos. It is particularly renowned for housing 400 Bwindi gorillas, which represent approximately fifty percent of the global population of the endangered mountain gorillas. Fourteen distinct groups of mountain gorillas inhabit four separate sectors: Buhoma, Ruhijja, Rushaga, and Nkuringo, located within the districts of Kanungu, Kabale, and Kisoro, all of which are managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Jinja

The vibrant town of Jinja is located at one of the origins of Africa's longest and most famous rivers: the River Nile. This river has historically represented life and abundance for the nations it traverses, concluding its journey in Egypt, far to the north. Jinja has rapidly established itself as the adrenaline hub of East Africa, where adventure enthusiasts can indulge in activities such as white-water rafting, kayaking, quad biking, bungee jumping, or horseback riding amidst the remnants of colonial architecture.

Day 1

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda and after completing the necessary formalities, you will be greeted by a courteous guide who will assist you in your transfer to Boma Guest House (15-minute drive).
After check-in, you will spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2

This morning after breakfast, you will be collected by your guide and transferred to Papaya Lake Lodge, where you may pass by many picturesque tea plantations along the way (6-hour drive).
Depending on your arrival time, you can opt to explore the nearby crater lake or simply unwind and enjoy the rest of the day at the lodge.

Day 3

Today you will track the most famous inhabitants of Kibale National Park, the chimpanzees!

With over 1,450 individuals protected within the park, Kibale forest is home to the largest number of the endangered chimpanzees in Uganda, as well as the threatened red colobus monkey and the rare L’Hoest’s monkey. The forest has one of the highest diversities and density of primates in Africa totalling 13 species including the black and white colobus, blue monkey and grey-cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkey, bush babies and pottos.

In the afternoon after tracking, you have the opportunity for a guided walk through the swamps of Bigodi.

Day 4

Today, after breakfast, you will be collected by your guide and transferred to Buhoma Lodge (6-7 hour drive).
After check-in, you can spend the day at leisure

Day 5

Today is the day!

This morning, you will get up early. Trekking the mountain gorilla is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The adventure may span from 2 to 6 hours, but the rewards are truly remarkable. Your journey will be guided by an experienced ranger who will share fascinating insights about the flora, fauna and the captivating lifestyle of these incredible gorillas.

Day 6

After breakfast, you will be collected by your guide and transferred to Kihihi Airstrip for your internal flight to Entebbe.
Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, you will be met by your guide who will drive you to the Eastern part of Uganda – Jinja.
If time allows, you will have the opportunity to visit the source of the Nile, the world's longest river.
Afterwards, head directly to Wildwaters Lodge (3-hour drive).

Day 7

Your days will be spent at leisure exploring Jinja

Optional activities at Wildwaters Lodge include:

White water rafting on the Nile

Horse riding through the villages and farm or along the Nile

Bike ride

Day 8

After breakfast, you will be collected by your guide and transferred to Entebbe Airport (3-hour drive).
Upon reaching Entebbe Airport, you will connect to your return flight home.
