Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
This intimate and charming destination commands spectacular and uninterrupted views of the forest ahead. Climbing up along the slopes of a mountain range, the park consists of a series of narrow, steep valleys, deep green and cloaked in mist, while it also serves as a home to half the word's population of critically endangered mountain gorillas.
Fourteen distinct groups of mountain gorillas inhabit four separate sectors: Buhoma, Ruhijja, Rushaga, and Nkuringo, located within the districts of Kanungu, Kabale, and Kisoro, all of which are managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Out of these, several families have become habituated to humans, allowing small groups of people to track them and spend an hour in their company. The gorillas remain wild and the interaction takes place under the careful eyes of highly trained trackers.

Day 1
- On arrival at Entebbe International Airport and after completing the necessary formalities, you will embark on your internal flight to Kihihi Airstrip (1-hour & 45-minute flight).
- Upon arrival at the airstrip, you will be met by your guide, who will assist you in traveling to Buhoma Lodge located within the breathtaking Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (30-minute drive)
- After check-in, you will spend the rest of the day at leisure
Day 2
Today is the day!
A day of gorilla trekking begins early, departing from your lodge with the dawn. The guides will meet and brief groups of visitors at the gathering point before setting off. The walk can be challenging, especially during Uganda’s two rainy seasons, which are from March to May and then again in November and December.
Depending on where the gorillas were last seen, the trek can take anywhere between 40-minutes to six hours spent making your way through the tranquil green undergrowth that covers the mountain slopes, with several quiet encounters with the other denizens of the park enroute. When the gorillas emerge from the foliage, time stands still as you enjoy their company for an hour. There is something deeply moving about being in the presence of these regal creatures.

Day 3
- Today, you will get up early again and go for a second trek in search of the gentle giants
- You will be trekking a different family and spend time watching the adults feed their young ones, brushing and resting as the youngsters swing from vine to vine in a playful display.
Day 4
- After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to Kihihi Airstrip for your internal flight back to Entebbe, enjoying the beautiful aerial view of South-Western Uganda, the hills and thick vegetation as well as the farming practiced by the locals.
- Upon reaching Entebbe Airport, you will connect to your return flight home.
