    Overview

Mpala Jena offers is a perfect base to explore Victoria Falls and the Zambezi National Park. This intimate camp is perfectly positioned along the mighty Zambezi River and beautifully canopied by lush trees. Mpala Jena combines several elements to create a comfortable and luxurious base from which to explore and relax. With the use of thatch roofs and flowing canvas tents, every comfort has been catered for. The sandy floor in the bar area, and the adjacent swimming pool, set the scene for guests to kick their shoes off and relax after their morning game drive or river cruise. The pool lounge makes you feel that you are right on the river and is the ideal place to hang out with a book during the heat of the day. Mpala Jena is highly sought after for those wanting Victoria Falls accommodation.

The area under conservation within the Zambezi National Park is around 138,00 acres and boasts a healthy and increasing number of wildlife species. Guests travelling between June and October are able to spot large concentrations of Buffalo and Elephants, making Mpala Jena a unique gem within the park. The mighty Zambezi River has become a magnet for wildlife and provides magnificent opportunities for great wildlife sightings. There are several crocodiles and hippos that can be seen and heard throughout the day.

Mpala Jena is an environmentally friendly destination and has been creatively designed to ensure minimal impact on the environment of the Zambezi National Park. The camp is solar-run and the thatch and canvas have all been locally sourced. Each tent blends perfectly with its surroundings and boasts canopy ceilings, luxurious canvas, and boasts brilliant views of the river ahead. Each suite has a shaded veranda area and en-suite bathroom facilities, including an indoor shower, separate loo, and double basins. The highlight of the suites is the outdoor bathrooms with a beautiful bathtub and outdoor shower. Decking in front of the tent leads to views of the Zambezi River’s calming and peaceful flowing waters.

Mpala Jena Camp offers professionally guided wildlife viewing in open game drive vehicles, walks and morning or afternoon boat cruises. The camp has custom-built Land cruisers, and the vehicles are fully stocked with reference books, drinks and snacks. In addition, guests should take the opportunity to enjoy an excursion into Victoria Falls town, including a visit to the thunderous and impressive mass of falling water of the actual Victoria Falls during their stay.

    About the Zambezi National Park

The Zambezi National Park is located upstream from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, stretching for some 50 kilometres along the Zambezi river.

This beautiful gem of a National Park is little known, despite its proximity to the world-famous Victoria Falls. Split off from the Victoria Falls National Park in 1979, the 56,000 hectares of pristine wilderness and wildlife habitat has been a National Park in its own right ever since.

The Park is bisected by a tar road which runs between Victoria Falls and the Kazangula border post, dividing it into two sections

    Important Notes

    Additional COVID Testing information

The below information changes on an ongoing basis.  Please ensure updated COVID testing requirements are discussed with your Travel Consultant.

    • All guests travelling to Zimbabwe must present proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed not more than 48-hours before your arrival time in Zimbabwe.  This includes people that have been vaccinated.
    • Please ensure you travel with the original printed copy.
    • Please discuss with us the rulings for young children.
    • Please note the 48-hour validity of PCR tests starts from the time of swabbing.
    • Travellers may be requested to undergo a further PCR test on arrival if officials believe they are symptomatic. Symptoms include, but are not restricted to, a fever and a dry cough.
    • Should travellers be requested to carry out the PCR test on arrival, this will be at a cost of USD 60. Results will be available after a period of at least 2 hours. Should the PCR be negative the traveller is free to continue without quarantine.
    • If the PCR is positive, the traveller will be required to undergo a quarantine period of up to ten days or until such time as a negative test is received. This will be at the traveller’s own expense. This can be done at approved facilities.
    • Prior to leaving Zimbabwe and returning home or to another destination, you will require another negative COVID-19 PCR test performed not more than 72-hours (for South Africa) before your arrival time in your next destination.  The timing will change depending on your destination.
