Mpala Jena Private Villas offer an exclusive and luxurious safari experience on the banks of the Zambezi River, just a short distance from Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Located within the Chundu Concession in Zambezi National Park, this sought-after destination combines exceptional wildlife viewing with easy access to one of Africa’s most iconic natural wonders. Building on the success of the original Mpala Jena camp, the introduction of these private villas elevates the experience for discerning travellers seeking privacy, space and personalised service in a spectacular riverfront setting. Each villa is beautifully designed in collaboration with architect Julia Rutherford and award-winning interior designer Tracy Kelly, blending the charm of the original camp with a contemporary interpretation of Puglian architecture. Steep thatched roofs, graceful arches and natural textures create cool, airy interiors that are both elegant and inviting throughout the year.
Each exclusive-use villa features three spacious riverfront suites, a private main living area, swimming pool and dedicated staff including a private butler, chef and professional guide. Guests also enjoy the rare luxury of a private open safari vehicle and motorised boat at no additional cost, allowing for fully tailored safari activities based on individual preferences. Boating excursions along the Zambezi River offer exceptional opportunities for wildlife viewing, while guided game drives explore the diverse landscapes of Zambezi National Park. When water levels permit, guests can enjoy sunset or sunrise cruises aboard a historic dhow originating from Zanzibar, adding a unique cultural touch to the experience. Each stay includes return airport transfers as well as a guided half-day tour of the magnificent Victoria Falls, making it an ideal addition to any Southern African safari itinerary.
Positioned in areas frequented by zebra and impala, the villas offer uninterrupted views across the Zambezi River, with outlooks over private waterholes or tributaries that attract a variety of wildlife. Each suite is thoughtfully designed to provide a sense of tranquillity and exclusivity, featuring private river pavilions set slightly above the white sandy banks. These peaceful spaces invite guests to unwind, read, and take in the sights and sounds of the river at their own pace. Mpala Jena Private Villas seamlessly combine refined luxury, natural beauty and personalised safari experiences, offering an unforgettable escape in one of Zimbabwe’s most scenic and wildlife-rich regions.
The Zambezi National Park is located upstream from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, stretching for some 50 kilometres along the Zambezi river.
This beautiful gem of a National Park is little known, despite its proximity to the world-famous Victoria Falls. Split off from the Victoria Falls National Park in 1979, the 56,000 hectares of pristine wilderness and wildlife habitat has been a National Park in its own right ever since.
The Park is bisected by a tar road which runs between Victoria Falls and the Kazangula border post, dividing it into two sections.
