Uganda may be compact, but it’s brimming with natural drama, from mist-covered forests and glacial mountains to vast savannahs teeming with wildlife. Its size makes travelling between highlights refreshingly easy, letting you experience gorillas, the Big Five, and the mighty Nile all in one journey.
Most adventures begin in Entebbe, where Lake Victoria laps gently at the shoreline. This laid-back gateway town offers botanical gardens, craft markets, and easy access to the capital, Kampala, a lively city known for its cultural rhythm, friendly people, and buzzing food scene.
International flights arrive daily from Johannesburg, Nairobi, Kigali, and Addis Ababa, making Uganda a seamless addition to any East African itinerary.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, Bwindi is Uganda’s crown jewel. Trekking through its emerald-green rainforest to encounter a gorilla family in the wild is one of Africa’s most powerful wildlife experiences. Beyond gorillas, Bwindi shelters forest elephants, colorful birds, and the kind of ancient silence that stays with you long after you’ve left.
3
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Uganda’s most famous savannah reserve, Queen Elizabeth National Park spans volcanic craters, open plains, and the Kazinga Channel, where elephants and hippos share the waterway.
It’s also one of the few places on earth to see tree-climbing lions, along with large herds of buffalo and antelope.
4
Murchison Falls National Park
In the country’s north, the Nile River surges through a seven-metre-wide gorge to create the thunderous Murchison Falls, a spectacle best viewed from a boat cruise below or a lookout above.
The surrounding park offers classic game drives, excellent birding, and sightings of giraffe, lion, leopard, and Uganda kob.
5
Kibale Forest National Park
Known as the primate capital of the world, Kibale is home to 13 species of primates, including playful chimpanzees.
Guided treks bring you face-to-face with these intelligent creatures, while the forest itself hums with butterflies, orchids, and more than 370 bird species.
