By: Mishka Ramdas

How often do we take a moment for ourselves? In this fast-paced world, we’re constantly caught in an endless cycle of work, life, and responsibilities. Take a leap down the rabbit hole, go out on a whim and take an adventure, linger for a long time and then, hit resume. That sounds like a dream come true. Thankfully we live on a continent where we can escape and find wonders in any corner. It’s time to shut down your laptop, slow down, and reappreciate the solitude of Africa.

The Phinda Private Game Reserve

&Beyond, known for offering unique experiences for all travel goers has one particular reserve that many have grown to love. The Phinda Private Game Reserve in Kwa-Zulu Natal boasts six magical lodges with unforgettable views and experiences. Whether you’re staying at Phinda Rock, Forest, Mountain, Vlei, Zuka or Homestead, we can assure you that you would never want to leave. Not only is this a wonderful destination to escape for three or four days, but it is also great for seeking adventure. Enjoy thrilling bush walks, exciting game drives, hot air ballooning and more.

Cape Town and Surrounds

As the world returns to come kind of normalcy after the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, taking a short left has never been more exciting. The Mother City is a great place to start. Cape Town is not only rich in culture but is also home to one of the 7 Wonders of The World, Table Mountain. This eclectic city has something for everyone. Mountains, forests, sparkling beaches, historic Winelands and world-class restaurants are just some of the places you can visit.

Fill your soul with what it needs most. Pamper yourself with a stay at the luxurious Silo Hotel overlooking the city or visit the tranquil Last Word Franschhoek. Hermanus is another wonderful little speck of the Western Cape so book a stay at The Birkenhead House. Your journey could end off at the Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, a floral wonder.

Exploring Rwanda

Rwanda is one of the most spectacular destinations in Africa. To truly appreciate this wondrous land, you definitely need to spend five or more nights around Kigali, Lake Kivu, Volcanoes National Park and more. Rwanda is known for one specific adventure, and that is Gorilla Trekking. Engage with endangered Gorillas, Golden Monkeys and Chimpanzees in their natural habitat whilst appreciating the lovely forestry and beauty that is Rwanda. Some of the best places to linger longer on your Rwanda adventure are The Retreat, One & Only Gorillas Nest and Singita Kwitonda Lodge.

Luxury Rail Journeys

Sit back, relax and watch as the world passes you by while enjoying a crisp glass of wine. Luxury rail journeys are a fantastic way to unwind and are quite literally a historic treat. The Rovos Rail for example takes guests back to a bygone era of classic luxury. Rovos Rail offers Luxury Train Travel & accommodation to Pretoria and Cape Town or vice versa, Durban, Victoria Falls, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Swakopmund – Namibia and there are also special departures to the Thornybush Game Reserve.

Time + Tide Miavana

Kick of those running shoes and walk along the white sandy beaches in Madagascar, an island paradise! Put your electronics down and your feet up! Each villa is perfectly dotted along the coastline, and the overall experience is enhanced with sublime cuisine and magnificent activities. But one thing you need to experience is the crowned lemur trekking adventure! Lemurs are one of the biggest attractions in Madagascar and Miavana offers the best experience for all travellers.

A Natural Wonder – The Victoria Falls

Many travel enthusiasts will agree that on their list of destinations to visit, is the infamous Victoria Falls. And what place is better to fully immerse yourself and forget about your modern-day conventions than this magical destination? One of our favourite destinations is Matetsi Victoria Falls. Inspired by the magnificent location of the mighty Zambezi River in Zimbabwe, Matetsi Victoria Falls combines dramatic architectural design and luxurious interiors with the vibrancy of the Zimbabwean people. Just 40 km upstream from the UNESCO World Heritage site of Victoria Falls –the proximity to the largest waterfall in the world is a coup – it is just one of the many experiences on offer.

Remember, life was not intended to simply be a round of work, no matter how interesting and important that work may be. A moment’s pause to watch the glory of a sunrise or sunset is completely soul-satisfying, while a bird’s song will set the steps to music all day long. Take the moment to pause life and enjoy each moment that comes your way!
